Russian-language school of the Pushkin Institute

Russian-language school of the Pushkin Institute

This school was founded in 2004.

Lessons are offered in four subjects: Russian language; literature; speech development; and Russian culture and history. Students attend cultural events (including performances at the Russian Theatre), go on excursions to Russia (St Petersburg and Moscow), visit historical sites in Estonia related to Russians (Kadriorg and Pühtitsa Uspenski Convent in Kuremäe), take part in traditional doll-making workshops and more. The school also organises summer camps.

The school admits students each year in two categories: Russian for Russian-speaking children studying in Estonian; and Russian for children studying in Russian. Studies are organised in four age groups (and at four levels): Grades 1-3; Grades 4 & 5; Grades 6-9; and upper secondary school students.

Children from the school have been successful in the Russian Language Internet Olympiad as well as the International Russian Language Olympiad.
